Coming Out of Lockdown

posted on 17 June 2020 | posted in Information

It's been a strange few months! Going into lockdown in March and closing our shop in Gandy Street was a surreal experience, and one that I would rather not go through again. I have spent the last three months going crazy with DIY, trying to reassure my teenage children, adding new stock to the website, trying to stay positive about the whole situation and finally preparing to reopen Mantis.
We reopened on Monday and I have never been so nervous or anxious about opening the door to my little shop, but I needn't have worried! Apart from being a bit rusty about how to do a card transaction and fold a scarf, it was a pleasure to be open and serving my lovely customers again.
There are a few changes, we are Covid-19 secure which means customers should use hand sanitizer on entry, should ask before touching stock (just so we know what to clean afterwards), should maintain social distancing, and there are only 2 people allowed in the shop at a time. We also have a perspex screen at the counter, which feels a bit like being in a goldfish bowl! It's a bit strange, but we're open and that is the main thing.
So if you are in Exeter, pop in and say hello. It would be really, really good to see you.
Best wishes and stay safe,
Philippa
